Hi guys, thought i'd introduce myself. My name's Austin and I live in Texas(I hope you guys don't mind a foreigner round here ) Lot different fishing over here, untapped massive reservoirs and fully wild fish, there's a lot of pioneering involved. I'm a prostaffer for CarpPro magazine, one of the only carp fishing publications over here. Hope to add a unique perspective to the forum. Bye for now guys

A great untapped treasure is carping over there, not many 'carpers' are there?

Re: Newbie from Texas
Not at all it was actually almost 80F here yesterday (about 26C) which is unseasonably warm. There was snow on the ground a week ago though so this won't last long at all.jalk1 wrote:Hi Austin welcome to the bivvy bet you are not under snow and freezing.

Yeah not many carpers at all, only a few thousand scattered through the continent. Quite a few here in Texas, a mix between british expats and regular old guys who just got interested in it like myself. It's a bit more difficult getting tackle and gear over here, I order most of my gear from the UK, and Carp definitely aren't the local favorite here by any means, but that's changing.
I'll get some pics up in a few minutes

Re: Newbie from Texas
Honestly I have no idea hahaha they are small, lame fish that are abundant. They are a bit fun to catch with a fly rod or something, but i'd take a carp any day.
