All the lakes are well stocked and offer excellent sport with very good conditioned hard fighting fish of many species. Nearly all the pegs can be driven to and parked at, making if completely disabled friendly. Please be careful for poles whilst driving round the lakes though!
Capricious is the first lake you pass when entering the site, passing it on your right as you approach the clubhouse. It is approx 2 ½ acres and it is very well stocked with Carp, Roach, Bream, Rudd, Perch and Chubb and is predominately a match water. As the name suggests, the fishing is either excellent or hard going, with no explanation for either. I have never fished this water, but friends have reported ‘bagging up’ with carp averaging the 8lb mark.
Blake Pool is the original water at the venue; it is a lovely looking water, surrounded by trees and with four islands in a line down the middle of the lake. This lake has 41 pegs. This is one of the most popular lakes and regularly produced big catches and big fish. There are several big Carp in here, with a couple topping the 20lb mark. There are also big Bream, Tench, Barbel, Chubb, Roach, Perch and Crucians.
Hall Pool is probably my favourite lake here, another lovely looking water with a lovely big island feature, it is approx 3 ½ acres in size. Again it is fished heavily and is another favourite lake for matches. There are reeds to the far end of the lake, which is where I head if they are free. It has an excellent head of fish again, with big Carp to 20lb, many doubles and many, many carp around the 10lb mark. I caught eight Carp in one session all between 8lb-12lb, along with several other smaller Carp and Barbel. The fish are in excellent condition and are extremely fit fish offering superb sport. The fish stocked in this lake is similar to that on Blake Pool minus the Chubb.
Peninsular pool is the bottom and biggest lake at the venue at 8 acres, this lake comes a close 2nd to Hall as my favourite lake. Again stocked with lots of Carp, this lake holds the biggest of all the lakes with Carp around the 30lb mark, again with lots around the 10lb mark. The nearest side is the shallow side with the far side the deepest with depths of 12ft in places. Similarly stocked as both Hall and Blake, it also holds a good head of Tench. The fishing is excellent with superb quality fish once again.
The Cabin Pool is more of a beginner’s pool and is situated next to the clubhouse, as the name would give away. This is only a small pool of around ½ acre and is used predominately by children as they begin their careers as anglers. There are carp to 4lb and lots of silver fish to keep them busy and entertained. My nephew caught his fist carp on this pond and thus the seed was sown!
The facilities at Blake Hall are second to none to be honest, it has a wonderful club house which houses a restaurant, a patio dining area, a refreshments bar selling cans, crisps, ice creams and the like, and the toilets, which are of excellent quality and cleanliness. The food on offer is superb, you can have a sit down breakfast before your start your day, or you can take your food with you to your peg. The food is excellent and is very well priced, I can recommend it enough.
Inside the clubhouse, you will also find all the match results, along with all the photos on display of the lakes monsters; it will really get you in the mood before you start your session. There is also another hut behind the clubhouse where you can buy bait and accessories that you may have forgotten and at very reasonable prices too. It costs £6 per day to fish at Blake Hall, (£5 for concessions and £4 for U16’s) or you can buy a season ticket for £190 per year. I think you will agree, the prices are excellent and offer excellent value for money.
